Our Rental Process

Our process is designed to reward those students who are responsible, and it’s a first come, first serve process that doesn’t discriminate. Any attempt at an unfair advantage could permanently disqualify you from renting a RentUindy property.

It is proven that the people who are serious, responsible, and organized will get the house of their choice.

We allow our current student renters the first opportunity to renew their lease. Any houses that have not been claimed by the current renters by the deadline will be posted on the “Available Student Houses” page of our website and will be available for the following year.

Here’s the process you’ll need to follow:

  1. As soon as you know which house you want, email info@rentuindy.com with your “Interest Email“. That “Interest Email” should have the house name as the subject line. In the body of the email include each student’s full legal name & his/her uindy.edu email. This means you are ready to sign a lease agreement for that home.

  2. We will then set up an account for you and the specific house of your choice on MySmartMove.com. You will receive an email from mysmartmove.com within minutes. Follow the instructions to complete the application, and once this is completed, mysmartmove.com will contact RentUindy immediately with the results.

  3. Make sure you are approved and setup with Venmo (see below), as this is how the security deposit and all rent payments will be submitted.
Venmo is a free digital wallet that lets you make and share payments with friends, roommates, and RentUindy. You will need to have an account set up in advance to qualify for a RentUindy property. (*Please make sure a payment method linked to your account in advance. A test payment of 1¢ to a roommate is worth it!)

  4. RentUindy will send the leases via DocuSign. Each tenant will read & electronically sign the lease agreement. Once the leases are submitted and the security deposit (equivalent to one month’s rent) is sent via Venmo, you can secure the home. You will also be required to email a picture of your driver’s license and student ID to info@rentuindy.com at that time.

  5. ***You have not secured the house until the lease is signed by all tenants and the security deposit is paid.

———–

Again, any attempt at an unfair advantage could permanently disqualify you from renting a RentUindy property. If you try to set up your own mysmartmove account, you will not be allowed to rent the house. We can not hold properties or kick students out for showings to fit your time-frame. We also will not wait for you to set up your payment method. We provide all information on the process ahead of time to give students every opportunity to be prepared.

We feel this is a self-explanatory process. Due to the volume of interest, we will not accept or respond to multiple emails or calls with questions. Read the directions before contacting RentUindy with questions.
Good luck! (Although it has been proven that the process has more to do with organization and responsibility than luck!)

Utilities are paid by the tenant each month.

Tenants are responsible for putting the utilities into their name starting on their move in date. For further estimates, feel free to contact the utility providers listed below.
